I have recently acquired the car; it is without the original body which is still sitting in Tennessee, a very long way from where I live in California. I will be bringing the car home from Nevada next week. I am researching what it would take to restore the car using an SS-100 type 2 seater body fitted, but not an exact copy of the SS100. The scuttle, bonnet, radiator and radiator shell &grille are all there, as well as 100% pf the running gear. The car had no body section, instruments, or lighting. I do have ll of the original, unrestored seats, in the original leather. Any information about this car that anyone has would be most welcome!

Being rebuilt with SS 100 coachwork; original saloon body was destroyed although original saloon gearbox is with the car it will be replaced with an original SS100 gearbox due to differences in mounting. Much of coachwork being used is from another original SS100 (dash, wings, petrol tank) though chassis & wood tub are new reproductions. All suspension, steering & brakes are original, reworked to fit new coachwork/body style

Being rebuilt as an SS100; many original SS100 components have ben obtained, including the original wings from an SS100. The louvered front apron panel is also being reused from the orignal saloon body, the only one. Of course it had to be trimmed a bit but it fits nicely. It's also the only steel part of the coachwork, the remainder being aluminum.

I think it is your lucky day because I have an original photograph of this car when it was bought by a US sailor CECIL H FRANCIS 11/11/1960

He bought it in Portsmouth for one British pound

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
