after I purchased the car, I have now in my hands the Heritage, confirming
1935 SS 1 Tourer 20HP, built in January 1935 and immediately sent to US :
it seems a car untouched original, even if a wreck, with futuristic for the period, things, appeared in the later years, easily detectable like the boot,
fenders, unusual uppe profile of doors. Missing some parts , but just now several in my hands.

after receiving the car, I sent the engine numbers to Heritage, so I had a new Heritage complete with engine numbers.

after using sandpaper, I must say the first layer of paint on this car was Medium Green Metallic, I was surprised about this fact due to the period, thinking that metallic was a later color, but I must add that also some of the AC pre-war cars , like competition 16/80 models, were factory painted in metallic , as per factory records.

This car was shipped in US immediately after its production and was white, as per the Heritage of this car : yes the tracks of white are there, but underside it was green metallic.

Ciao Ferruccio, SS Cars offered the first metallic finishes in their sales brochures as early as 1932. IIRC "Silver" was the first metallic paint offered, but then in years 1934-1935 there were some paints where we do nto really know what they looked like. Mr. Ed Nantes in Australia has also records and photos of some 1930's metallic paints on SS Cars.

What does your JHT certificate tell the original paint, trim and hood colours were? Can you please add all the info here, date built, despatch date etc? That would be great. :) best wishes from Helsinki, Pekka T.

hello Pekka,

I have seen your question only now, being very busy with cars. On Heritage it was White, as explained,

'cause it was a car built and immediately sent to US, were White was the official color about racing car I think also in that period ? I must check about the rest on its Heritage.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
