Coys had the pleasure to sell many SS 100`s over the years and is particulary pleased to offer this serious concourse contender, bought by the vendor at Coys some six years ago. This 2 ½ litre SS 100 not only boasts an almost complete history from new, but also is a serious concourse contender after a ground up restoration during its last ownership by its fastidious enthusiast owner. The car is a regular feature in the Jaguar Owners magazine and well known in SS100 circles. Its life started in 1938 when it was first sold by Appleyard of Leeds in UK and the list of owners from 1938 to date is available in the cars file including details of its journey to Kuala Lumpur in 1963.

Supplied is a Heritage certificate which confirms its early history and a FIVA Identity pass and a booklet with pictures and other information about this splendid SS 100. This superb car also comes with German historic registration documents and last but not least, the car posses an original, not a reprint, owner's manual. It's definitely amongst the finest examples we have seen and suitable to grace any collection of Jaguar historic sports cars.

Car to return to auction 12/4/12
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Lot 641 - 1938 Jaguar SS100 2½ Litre - The "Kuala Lumpur" SS100
Estimate: £180,000 - £220,000
Registration Number: German registered
Chassis Number: 49034
According to the supplied heritage certificate, 49034 was manufactured in 1938 and first supplied by Appleyard of Leeds to a Mr G. A. Wilson. The list of owners from 1938 to date is available in the car's file including details of its journey to Kuala Lumpur in 1963 in the possession of a Mr Anthony Sissons and its return the same year. The SS100 then changed hands in 1968 to a Mr Forster of Nottingham who sold it the following year to a Mr Guyatt of Harrow. In 1974 the Jaguar left the British Isles a second time, on this occasion for Switzerland where it then spent more than 30 years in the ownership of one collector before returning to Britain once again in 2006 to be sold by Coys to the current owner.

Following restoration the SS100 presents magnificently with lustrous red coachwork and high quality burgundy leather upholstery. The brightwork is polished to a mirror finish including the desirable chrome wire wheels.

Mechanically, 49034 is in equally impressive condition with the engine firing easily and performing strongly, the gearbox changing smoothly and with little effort and the brakes pulling the car up firmly without drama. Weather equipment is in excellent condition with the new complementary red hood with red leather hood bag and full tonneau.

Also supplied is a FIVA passport and a booklet with pictures and other information about this splendid SS100. This superb car also comes with German historic registration documents and last but not least, the car posses an original, not a reprint, owner's manual.
