1938 SS 1 1/2 litre Jaguar Saloon
Chassis number: 51478
Body Number: A0123
Engine Number: KA755E
Registration number: GJO110
A car we previously sold from an Irish estate of the previous owner whom had embarked upon a major restoration. Since then the car has been further improved with the addition of new chrome wire wheels etc.
This car underwent a major mechanical. body & interior restoration & since then has covered few miles. The car runs at 55mph or so effortlessly & never going above 60 degrees whilst driving on the hottest days of summer. Oil pressure is at 45 labs as per factory spec. I have to say I am really surprised at how well the car drives & what a good job it does of running in modern traffic. The engine is surprisingly powerful & pulls very strongly.
The car is finished in its original colour with unmarked black paintwork in fresh perfect order. To the interior is new beige leather with the correct art deco style panels to the door cards. All the burr walnut has been removed & refinished to a high standard. Beige carpets are fitted throughout with black over-mats making for a smart appearance.
With its dark coachwork & quartet of suicide doors. this car is the epitome of late '30's style. It compares very favourably to a derby Bentley & is a considerably easier driving experience. The font windscreen winds open allowing a pleasant air flow to keep the occupants cool. allied to a large sunroof & crank opening quarter lights.
The mechanics of the car have been fully gone though. The brakes are excellent. The engine rebuilt etc. As a result this is a car needing nothing & is a credit to its current owner who has looked after it with care & dilligence.
The car is UK registered with a V5 on plate GJO110

An original right-hand drive Jaguar 1½-Litre Saloon supplied by Henlys of London. A recent restoration and in very impressive condition.
This sparkling example is finished in its original colour and the refurbished interior is in cream leather with the correct Art Deco sunburst-style door cards. The figured Walnut dashboard and door caps have been refinished to a very high standard and black overmats cover the beige carpets
The windscreen winds open allowing a pleasant air flow to keep the occupants cool, aided by a large sunroof which opens easily and opening quarter lights
It has been subject to a major restoration, including a full professional respray, re-chroming and new wheels. The underside, engine bay and interior are in excellent condition
According to our vendor 'The engine runs wonderfully, it has been tuned so it produces 40bhp instead of 14bhp, doesn't sound like much but it can cruise at 50-60 and keep up with modern traffic. The 4-speed manual goes into all gears perfectly'
We understand that all the electrics work and everything does what it should do, including the old semaphore indicators
The car is supplied with its V5C, Jaguar Heritage Certificate and invoices for work carried out confirming that it had nearly £6,000 spent on the engine and running gear earlier this year. It also has a 1958 tax disc in the windscreen!
